چکیده مقاله:

s:865:"We read with interest the manuscript entitled "Serum and peritoneal fluid levels of vascular endothelial growth factor in women with endometriosis" recently published in the International Journal of Fertility and Sterility (1). The authors measured the levels of vascular endothelial growth factor in serum and peritoneal fluid of 179 women, 90 of whom were diagnosed with endometriosis, and observed that serum VEGF levels were similar in both study groups while women with endometriosis had higher levels of VEGF in peritoneal fluid compared with controls. Thus, the authors have concluded that endometriosis "is not related to the change of VEGF level in circulation". We believe that the methodology used in the study was not adequate to establish levels of "circulating" VEGF at the time of sampling thus invalidating the results of the study.";

Levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in serum of patients with endometriosis.

BACKGROUND Elevated concentrations of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) have been detected in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis. Furthermore, it was postulated that VEGF is involved in the development of endometriotic lesions. The present study is aimed at determining whether high levels of VEGF could also be found in the serum of patients with endometriosis. METHODS...

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in endometriosis.

Angiogenesis is likely to be involved in the pathogenesis of endometriosis. According to the transplantation theory, when the exfoliated endometrium is attached to the peritoneal layer, the establishment of a new blood supply is essential for the survival of the endometrial implant and development of endometriosis. From the known angiogenic factors, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has...

Pnm-9: Serum and Peritoneal Fluid Level of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Endometriosis

Background: Endometriosis is known as one of the most common disease in women of reproductive age. Due to importance role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in neo-vascularization for the implantation of endometrial cell and different reported results for VEGF level in the serum and peritoneal fluid (PF) in endometriosis patients, this study was designed to determine the serum and PF ...
